Accomplishments

Since our official programming launch in March 2009, Project SYNCERE has achieved the following major accomplishments:
• Served over 1,500 students throughout Chicago since our official launch during the 2009 school year, helping to promote science, technology, engineering and math throughout Chicago Public Schools.
• Realized on average a 20% improvement in science and math assessment scores from participation in our programs.
• Partnered with CPS and various Charter School Networks to implement our STEM curriculum at more than 18 elementary schools and 4 high schools throughout Chicago.
• Conducted six STEM camps in the summer of 2010, which exposed more than 120 students to the STEM fields.
• Conducted 2 STEM camps in the summer of 2009, which exposed more than 60 students to the fields of green technology and engineering.
• Provided the entire teaching staff of Miles Davis Magnet Academy and Caldwell Math and Science Academy with professional development workshops in project-based learning.
• Mentored and coached students at Perspectives Calumet High School through the FIRST Robotics statewide competition at IIT, in which they placed 4th out of 27 teams.
• Organization was featured on NBC in February 2011, for its innovative methods of making math and science fun for students.
• Organization was featured on NextTV in June of 2010, for its innovative curriculum, which introduces young students to advanced math concepts thru engineering.
• Developed our first global partnership in 2010, with the Community Justice for Youth Institute (CJYI) to investigate social, economic, educational and legal inequalities in South Africa.
• Expanded local partnerships to include local universities that have a vested interest in the academic improvement of local Chicago area students.
