Founders
Project SYNCERE is the dream of three African American men with a passion for technology. These men grew up on the south side of Chicago and at an early age learned the power of technology. Their backgrounds consist of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. (Staff bios are below.)
Jason Coleman (Executive Director) attended Whitney Young High School and the University of Southern California where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2001. Upon graduation he worked in the aerospace industry for BAE SYSTEMS where he designed and developed flight control systems for military and commercial aircrafts. From 2004-2008 he was employed with Motorola where he developed the mechanical layouts for the latest cellular phones. In 2008, he co-founded the Not-For-Profit Organization, Project SYNCERE where he currently serves as the Executive Director. Jason also volunteers as a Community Panel Youth Member with the Community Justice for Youth Institute, which facilitates a juvenile court diversion model based on principles of restorative justice; works as a volunteer instructor with the Jobs For Youth program and serves as a technology instructor at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
Seun Phillips (Director of Progams) received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 2006. Upon graduation he worked at Motorola from 2006-2009 as a Senior Electrical Engineer. While at Motorola, his focus was on audio circuitry and accessory compatibility. As Co-Founder and Director of Programs at Project SYNCERE, Seun puts all his passion into expanding the Project SYNCERE brand worldwide. In addition to his work with Project SYNCERE, he has taught college students in research strategies; tutors middle school and high school students in math and science and provides professional development workshops for teachers and college students.
George Wilson (Director of Finance) attended Kenwood High School and Central State University in Ohio. George most recently worked at Northwestern University, where he specialized in grant proposal budgets and managing funds awarded to faculty in the Life Sciences department. At Northwestern, he managed a budget of approximately $50 million a year in awarded funds, and also handled the hiring, payroll and termination process for PhD students and Post-doctoral fellows in his department. In addition, George has experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling and bookkeeping.
