E-CADEMY

Overview

E-CADEMY

Project SYNCERE's E-CADEMY is an out-of-school time engineering program that is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 and 9-11 for enrollment in post-secondary STEM programs.

The program utilizes the nationally recognized Project Lead The Way curriculum, to teach students how to apply engineering skills to identify problems, create unique solutions and lead their own learning experience. Over the course of 32-weeks during the school year, students work both in teams and individually to develop the skills and knowledge required for success at the post-secondary level. Our goal is to provide a pathway of opportunities that brings like-minded students together, to motivate and prepare them to successfully pursue careers in engineering. Through their early involvement in the program, we believe that we can be the catalyst for increasing the number of students who successfully matriculate through college and pursue careers in the STEM fields.

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Learn to use industry leading software to solve engineering problems
  • Create solutions to engineering design challenges
  • Build a portfolio of work for continued education opportunities
  • Gain skills in communication, critical thinking and collaboration
  • Entrance into a post-secondary institution to pursue a STEM degree

    GATEWAY (Middle School)

The E-CADEMY Gateway Program is a 3-year out-of-school time engineering program that is designed for students in grades 6-8. The goal of the program is to provide students in middle school with early opportunities to develop the technical skills and knowlege for success in engineering.

The Gateway Program provides students with a strong foundation for further STEM learning in high school and beyond by challenging students to solve real-world challenges. Using the same advanced software and tools as those used by the worlds leading companies, students learn how to apply science, technology, engineering and math to their everyday lives.

    Pro (High School)

The E-CADEMY Pro Program is a 3-year out-of-school time engineering program that is designed to prepare students in grades 9-11 for enrollment in post-secondary STEM programs. The goal of the program is to provide students in high school with the necessary engagement opportunities to develop the technical skills and knowlege for success in collegiate engineering programs. The Pro version of E-CADEMY includes two principal sections: a knowledge and skill development component, which takes place during the academic school year and an experiential component, which takes place during the summer months.

The Pro Program is more than just another high school engineering program. It allows students to apply science, technology, engineering and math skills to solve complex, open-ended problems in a real-world context. Students focus on the process of defining and solving a problem, not just on finding the "right" answer. They learn how to apply STEM knowledge, skills and habits of mind to make the world a better place through innovation.

The summer months allow students the opportunity to put their knowledge to use. During this portion of the program, students are broken up into teams to work collaboratively to develop solutions to specific engineering challenges. The students will learn to apply the knowlege gained from the academic year to help in designing their solutions to the provided problem sets. The projects are instructor guided, but each team will be paired with a mentor from one our corporate partners to help them think through their design solutions.
